Song Commissions

If your enjoying John Chapman’s original solo classical guitar compositions and improvisations please inquire about commissioning him to create a unique and beautiful classical guitar composition composed just for you.

Song commission rates range from $300 to $2,000 and are determined by; song length, musical style or styles, the density of harmonic, melodic and rhythmic components, the complexity of the arrangement, any unique physical performance challenges and the overall time spent during composition and client interaction.

When commissioning a song composition there is no recommended start date or time frame prior to your scheduled wedding ceremony or special event date. But the more composition time available, enhanced by clearest initial client direction always creates a more fluid creative process and has the potential to yield better results.

All song commissions are secured by contract and require a half deposit for John Chapman to begin composing. There is no charge for a 45-minute song commission consultation, which can be conducted either by speakerphone or in person meeting. Song commission consultation meetings requiring more than 45-minutes initially and more than the allotted 15-30 minutes later on (1 1/2 hours total song commission consultation time), a $50 per 30-minute fee would be applied payable at that time.

During your music consultation John Chapman will perform his original compositions, improvisations and other published song samples in various musical styles, tempos and moods to help you choose the musical style or styles to be composed and performed on either solo acoustic nylon string classical guitar or acoustic steel string guitar, your choice.

At this time you may enjoy providing musical direction for many important details of you’re commissioned composition. These details include; the overall emotional mood, energy, pace, tempo and general length of the composition. Clients will feel assured by hearing one draft during the creative composition process if they like.
